Just had to post some pictures of my amazing finds this past Saturday on Melrose…and Nordstrom Rack (gasp!). Yes. I know. I confess to all you die-hard, strictly “Vintage” shoppers, I am THAT kind of shopper: Of the omnivore breed of bargain hunters, I don’t focus on labels, just quality, design, fit & price. Fortunately, the Nordstrom Rack’s and Crossraod Trading Co.’s of the world have all three, but not necessarily always the “vintage” feel or look or aging. Places like Wasteland, Slow, and other vintage shops on Melrose have a healthy balance of hipster-vintage pieces and label hunters’ guilty pleasures, and everything in between. And the deals. Oh the deals. Please let me explain:

New Favorite Thing #1: Shark Necklace by Crowded Teeth.
By now you’ve probably noticed my love for sharks. My boyfriend/stylist /personal shopper/resident metrosexual secretly hunted down the store, Japan L.A., and the necklace even before we left home. After I hesitated buying it despite the already reasonable price ($16), PJ stealthily purchased it. Gotta love it when your reverse psychology works on a man…haha. j/k. Really sweet surprise and early xmas gift. Thx. PJ : ) AND, to make the find even sweeter, we found out that Japan L.A. sells it cheaper than LoungeFly. You must check out the lady behind CrowdedTeeth, her line is rad.
Other Favorite Things:
Wasteland: Only $55. According to the teller, this was on the shelf for less than an hour. With Vintage Shopping, it’s all about timing. Now I can raid tombs.

Nordstrom Rack: Truth+Pride Leather Biker Vest. Original Retail Price: $398. Got it for $68. I’ve been searching for a biker vest like this all my life, who knew I’d find it, out of all places, Nordstrom Rack?
What’s the No. 1 Guideline to Vintage Shopping (and perhaps shopping in general)? According to my style guru, PJ, it is this: It’s all about the Fit. No matter how fine the quality or the price. If it don’t fit right, it won’t work. This guideline has helped me make great decisions about what to buy and what to hold.
Maybe I’ll post a complete list of guidelines in the future. For now, enjoy these photos with envy, and happy hunting
